From the Nave Museum:

“The Nave Museum is thrilled to announce our next fascinating dual exhibitions showcasing the talents of Texas artist Carol Koutnik and Oklahoma resident Irmgard Geul. From Friday, August 16th through Saturday, October 5th, 2024, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in two separate gallery exhibits featuring Koutnik’s “Unexpected Openings” painting and textile art exhibit and Geul’s embroidered painting artworks exhibit titled “Threads of Nature”. Each exhibit offers a distinct and compelling artistic vision, highlighting the diverse talents of these accomplished individuals.

“Unexpected Openings”, the latest exhibit by acclaimed Rockport artist Carol Koutnik, explores the transformative experience of wandering through a garden, where shifting perspectives reveal new vistas and insights. Koutnik parallels these garden “openings” with her creative process, inspired by memories of travels through regions with Moorish architecture such as Portugal, Spain, and Mexico. Her art, influenced by tiled courtyards, textured walls, and vibrant plantings, merges personal exploration with cultural memories, highlighting inherent beauty through structured geometries. Koutnik, a signature member of the Colorado and Texas Watercolor Societies, has exhibited at prestigious venues, including Biloxi Cultural Center, Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi, and the Rockport Center for the Arts. Her work is featured in private collections worldwide and has earned numerous accolades, including the Hallmark Award in Chicago, Illinois.

Additional details about Koutnik and Geul can be found on the Nave Museum website at NaveMuseum.org.

ARTSpeak Artist Mixer events, held from 11 AM to 12 PM on the closing day of each exhibit, offer a dynamic platform for both exhibit artists and the general public to connect. These free events provide an opportunity to share insights, discuss their craft, and gain inspiration from one another.

To attend the Nave’s Members-Only Exhibit Preview Events and Patron Parties held the Thursday evening before the public opening dates, contact the Nave Staff Office at (361) 520-4458 or visit NaveMuseum.org to become a member.

Exhibitions at the Nave Museum are made possible by the support of our annual sponsors: Discover Victoria Texas, Victoria Television Group, The O’Connor & Hewitt Foundation, Glazer’s Beer & Beverage, Armstrong Transfer & Storage, Expressions Floral and Gifts, The Inn on Main, and Sherwin-Williams Paint Store.”
